Butternut is a very good choice for laser engraving. The engraved area turns a nice dark brown and looks very nice against the naturally dark edges of the wood. Photos look nice when engraved in butternut, however the graining is very strong and will almost always show through the photo being engraved. Some people prefer this while others like the lighter graining of our basswood pieces. You be the judge. Butternut is currently being decimated by a canker disease and will be in short supply in the near future. If you are thinking of having one of these made it would be a good idea to move forward as soon as possible while we are still able to acquire them. Pricing for butternut engravings range from       $40 - $100 and vary in size from 8" X 16" to 14" X 34".
